At the third day of a 72 hour fast, while doing one of my meditating practices, I was able to realize something I had not thought about before, the way we are enjoying our lives is not aligned with the true purpose of our existence here.

It’s hard to perceive it in the current state of civilization, with all our technology, pavement, buildings, fuel powered vehicles, and the rest that makes up the structure of the new world. In a way, this has taken away our birthright of belonging to a bigger organism, our part in it, and the clear positive interaction with it.

Nature and me

I’ve always had a connection with nature, I am one of those odd people who could never cut down a tree or kill an animal, including several insects, I’d take them out of the house in a safe way. I always thought that since they have a life of their own, they deserve to live without me sentencing them to death for fear of them or simply inconvenience. In the end, I am a greater inconvenient to them.

When I lived in Margarita Island, I’d often encounter tarantulas in or around the house, and while they freaked me out for sure, I’d catch them safely and throw them back outside. I’ve done the same with snakes, crickets, moths, squirrels, and other animals. I recently had an occurrence with a caterpillar that landed on my windshield while driving home from the gym.

When I noticed him, I was about to get into a fast avenue, and I noticed how even at a speed of 45mph he would start losing grip on the glass and began slipping away. I purposely lowered my speed for the whole trip to make sure he stayed in place until I got home. After a longer than usual drive, and dozens of drivers annoyed at me, we both got home and I set him off on one of our biggest trees. I named him Gerardo.

Since my first psychedelic experience I’ve developed a stronger connection with nature, the first thing that settled in my new lifestyle was my sense of belonging in Planet Earth and its beautiful ecosystem. Within a week of this experience I had the most intense vision I’ve ever had, one day I’ll publish the whole story since it was like a voyage through time and space with a clear message from Pachamama that stirred me into this path in many ways.

This website is the result of this recent reconnection with Mother Earth.

Human cord detachment

Art by Ron Felishman

Most of us live sucked into the Matrix, revolving around artificial things created to draw our energy into the false perception of life in the illusion world created by the System. The house, work, our financial status, social norms, cultural behavior, clothing, money, social media, so forth and so on.

These things, all of them are distracting us from realizing the reality of the Planet. Our appreciation of nature has diminished, nobody looks at the flight of a bird and wonder like a child would, listening to the rain has become depressive for some reason, the Sun is shunned for so many unfounded reasons, the beautiful interplay of animal sounds in nature is a background noise, the rustling of the leaves by the wind ignored, the list goes on and on.

Planet Earth is a lot more than our electronics, sterile house yards, radio and wifi noise, blue light screens, the disruptive commotion of industry, traffic, time, and all the rest that adorns our daily grind.

Of course, everybody knows this, we all admit that communing with nature is the most relaxing thing one can do. Studies like this one have shown how people recovering from surgery that were exposed to natural environments through a simple window recovered faster, needed fewer potent analgesics, and had fewer negative comments by the nurse’s notes, compared to others who had a window facing a brick wall.

There is a clear restorative power when connecting with Gaia, her love is so strong that just by being in tune with her will provide a boost in your system’s depressed state. On the flip side, being constantly involved in the day to day concrete jungle, judgmental society, electronic driven communication, and artificial environments will gradually reduce your frequency.

The distortion is too great between mother nature and the illusion we call modern life. Somehow being in nature and fully appreciating its wonders has become a time luxury, a thing for hippies or loons. Reductionist Science has contributed to this a lot by simplifying our perception of natural phenomena, they consider everything primitive and inconsequential to our status as advanced civilized organisms, it strips away the very essence that we are made of, and the vibration by which we resonate with Mother Earth.

Our jobs and obligations rob us more than half of our waking hours rushing through the morning routine, wavering in traffic, stuck in the workplace, listening to man-made noise, running back home to finish the daily cycle until we find some time and space for ourselves later on.

We then go into our virtual screens like the one you are reading this right now, listening to music, or entertaining ourselves with what we like to reduce the stress of the day, enclosed indoors with artificial lights. We deprive ourselves so much from the umbilical cord that will always be present from Pachamama and us, and that lack of nourishment debilitates our body, mind, and soul.

No wonder why we are being prescribed narcotics and drugs, feeling an unnatural weakness in the body, having a prevalent anxiety, poor nutrition, depressed states, feelings of unworthiness, and so on.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with having time for entertainment and do the things we like to do indoors, we all have our favorite conditioned escape mechanisms to cope with the false reality we are exposed to every single day. But it doesn’t change the truth that at best they are only a supplement and a distraction from the source of our real state of mind.

Human cord reattachment

It doesn’t take much to go back and communicate with nature, but some people may have issues, feeling strange, disconnected, weird, self-aware, and other resisting forces that prevent them from marveling at the deep symbiosis between humans and Gaia. That’s right, there is a mutual relationship between you and her, to deny this is to deny yourself and your own existence.

The key thing for me is to revert to our childhood, when our rightful ignorance of how a river runs, how an insect flies, why the Sun is so bright, how trees get so big, why they offer us fruits and seeds, the reason for a bird’s song, the sound of the wind, everything that your living environment has to offer and you would ponder as a child, letting your imagination run wild.

You will find resistance from your preconceived notions, everything might sound and seem trivial because somehow our narrowing education indoctrinated us into stripping away the beauty of plants, animals, weather, and all the astonishing things that are always there awaiting our pleasure. The Universe was created for you, marvel upon it.

As you do this, channel your inner child and do whatever it tells you to do, whether that’s meditating on the thoughts that rush to your mind as you smell the air and view the landscape, or a physical activity within nature, when was the last time you climbed a tree or simply leaned on one?

For those of you who can take it to another level of consciousness, I have a practice I perform when going for a walk alone: become an observer. The first thing you need to do is forget everything you were taught or thought you knew about anything, from the bug flying around you to the celestial vault rotating over your head. Start questioning your whole surroundings all over again.

Everything around you is happening for you to see, appreciate, and assimilate. Imagine you are a creature from another planet, visiting in a vessel that doesn’t allow you to interact with the environment, and this includes other humans around you, so you can only gaze upon its foreign behaviors (unless they greet you, then it would be kind of weird, at least smile and pretend to be one of them).

Look at things as if you have never seen them before, bask in the ignorance that we all possess when it comes to explaining fundamentally what it means and how it happens, experience the world around you as that extraterrestrial being you are inside, a visitor in a wonderful place full of colors, smells, sounds, textures, flavors, and the inexplicable nature of everything from a leaf to the Sun.

The results of getting dirty with nature has all the benefits your soul is craving for, the harmony taken from these practices can undo days or months of stress built by the unrealistic modern world we live in.

Pachamama is out there waiting for you through that window, go out the door for even just a minute now and get a glimpse of what awaits you, whether is day or night.
